Tacton Systems and Animech have launched a unique solution for the 3D visualization of sales configuration by combining their expertise in highly customizable sales configuration and reutilization of 3D CAD data. Today, many enterprises use 3D CAD applications when designing new products. The 3D data that is generated is a valuable asset that can be used in many different areas within an enterprise, including sales and ordering. With the solution a sales person can visually configure a product in front of the customer in 3D graphics. The generation of 3D drawings and product-specific flowcharts is made possible on the fly. A complete and accurate Bill of Materials is generated automatically and integrated with corporate PDM and ERP systems - saving months in lead time for the sales specialist in defining the required product and reducing time for the manufactured product to reach its customer. The graphic user interface (GUI) can be customized to match the customer’s corporate profile and desired functionality. The same interface can be used on the Internet, providing customers with a tool for visual 3D self-service configuration. The solution is already being used by GE Healthcare and Karsten Fjärstedt, Director product management, explains: “With our visual 3D sales configuration tool provided by Tacton Systems and Animech we have really pulled ahead of our competitors. We have reduced cost and lead-time in quotation to ordering and today our production plant in Umeå, Sweden, actually complain that the flow of orders is coming too fast.” Björn Berg, Business Unit Director at Animech, continues: “The solution visually attracts and inspires customers.
